Our Instructors

TCMA instructors are working musicians — active performers with deep roots in Tejano, Conjunto, and Texas music tradition. They don't just teach the notes, they teach how it actually feels to play.

👤
John Garza
Guitar · Trumpet · Harmonica

A San Antonio bandleader and multi-instrumentalist with deep roots in Tejano, Conjunto, jazz, and Texas dance music. John has performed with the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, university jazz bands, and Los Nahuatlatos, playing festivals, weddings, and venues like The Carver Community Cultural Center. He brings musical range, showmanship, and a strong connection to South Texas tradition.

👤
Raul "Muerte" Abrego
Percussion · Bajo Sexto · Piano · Guitar · Vocals

Formally trained at San Antonio College and UTSA, Joaquin has been performing and recording professionally since 2000 with groups including Los Nahuatlatos, Eddie and The Valiants, and various Conjunto and Chicano soul acts throughout Texas. He brings deep roots in Tejano, psychobilly, and Latin music alongside strong music theory and audio production chops.

Carlos Martinez

He brings authentic Conjunto style and decades of real-world experience into every lesson.

👤
Felipe Iruegas Jr.

A San Antonio-based multi-instrumentalist with 15+ years of live performance and recording experience across rock, cumbia, Tejano, jazz, funk, and more. Felipe has performed across the US with acts including Los Nahuatlatos and Combo Cosmico, and released his debut album Hope Bliss in 2020.
